About Me

Ankita Bhatia Dutta I moved to Norway from Toronto, Canada in January 2009. My husband is born and raised in Norway, hence the move. A fashion designer by profession, the words 'unique' and 'creative' are always at the top of my dictionary. Oslo has much to offer. Fashion, restaurants, shopping, you name it. With so much excess time on hand, I never miss an opportunity to explore Oslo to its core. This website is an insight on those places that have truly excited me. Unique and enterprising!

Lucky Duck

Posted by on Saturday, June 27, 2009, In : Bath and Beauty

The first time I entered this store, I was as excited as a little kid in a candy store. Bursting with colors, Lucky Duck houses bath and beauty products. This store has everything one would need in their bathroom- towels, mats, manicure and pedicure sets, dustbins, head rests, tooth brushes, soaps, printed colored toilet paper, hangers etc. Products are neatly arranged and color-coded in a way that customers dont waste time looking for what they need. However, if I were to pick one product th...

Marche'

Posted by on Sunday, June 21, 2009, In : Eateries

If like my husband, you too have to travel back and forth from Drammen to Oslo for work everyday, then Marche' should be your choice for a stopover. This Swiss chain is 25 years old and Norwegians can look forward to a delicious and fulfilling meal as opposed to junk food joints that are scattered all over on the road to Oslo from Drammen. Marche' is based on the concept of preparing fresh food of choice infront of the customers. Guests get to choose between a meat, fowl and seafood dish. On ...

Located inside Eger on Karl Johannes, Steam Kaffebar is the perfect place to put down your shopping bags and refresh your senses. Calm and serene, this coffee shop boasts of many specialities- rasberry coated chocolate almonds, chocolate spreads and a wide array of scrumptious chocolates that are to die for. Ting

Tucked away in the corner of a street adjacent to the famous Karl Johannes street, Ting, which means *stuff* in Norwegian, can be best described as a contemporary lifestyle store that deals in 3 major categories- bath and beauty, modern kitchenware and miscelleneous travel items. It's USP is it's vast collection from popular brands like Rosendahl, Alessi, Vipp, Tivoli, Koziol etc. While prizes range from mid to high, there is no compromise on the quality of the products. Polka dotted blow dry...

Mique

Posted by on Friday, June 19, 2009, In : Contemporary Stores

An unusual and eclectic store with a collection of miscellaneous items. Located at the 2nd floor of Oslo City, the store makes you feel like you've stepped into the 80's generation. Loud colors, 80's music and a feel-good aura, Mique is a one stop destination for the modern contemporary generation of today. Some of the merchandise that caught my attention were unusual clocks and photoframes, rhinestone studded aprons and brooms, stiletto shaped cake serves, gun shaped omelette makers, first a...
